Natural Hardwood floors add an undeniable sense of warmth and character to any home – but if genuine hardwood gets stained or scuffed, the luxurious look can lose its luster pretty fast.

These days, every cent counts – especially when we’re talking cents per square foot on a hardwood flooring purchase. Even though the unit price may be low, there’s the underlayment, the bullnoses, the accents, the t-molding… soon, the total cost can ring up much higher than anticipated. Luckily, laminate flooring can be an affordable alternative to more expensive natural hardwoods. Thanks to new advancements in digital printing technology, laminate flooring can capture that timeless sense of character and warmth that makes hardwoods so desirable. If cost is a factor in your next flooring purchase, then a laminate floor may be the ideal option.

Armstrong Cumberland II Laminate

Laminate Flooring has been on the market in various forms for decades. Typically, laminates are lower cost, but that hasn’t always meant high-quality. Older wood-look laminates were printed on large rollers which churned out identical pieces every few feet. Now, modern luxury laminates are made using high definition digital printing technologies that incorporate hundreds of distinct inkjets which spray highly-varied, nearly non-repeating patterns across the laminate surface. This new printing technology creates an impeccable sense of realism, so that it is often difficult to tell the difference between the reproduction and the real thing. Combine this remarkable color clarity with new resilient materials that are highly resistant to abrasion, scuffs, and liquid damage, and laminate flooring is clearly one of the most durable flooring materials available.

Shaw Natural Values II Laminate

Even with these clear benefits, laminate flooring is still remarkably affordable. Armstrong Cumberland II collection is an excellent example of an economical laminate. Natural oak, maple, pine and cherry woods are all expertly reproduced in the Cumberland planks. Each hue resembles the unstained natural wood. However, the low price is the real eye-catcher. QuickStep 700 Home is another elegant and economical option. The 700 Home line incorporates exotic woods such as Panga Panga, Terra Merbau, and Brazilian cherry to offer even more design options – while still costing less than a medium coffee. Shaw Natural Values II collection features stunning oak, cherry and maple reproductions all with bold and beautiful colors which so accurately resemble actual wood that guests will certainly be impressed. Again, this luxurious laminate costs far less than people assume.

QuickStep 700 Home Laminate

The real value of laminate flooring isn’t just the dollar value. The value lies in what you get for the price. Laminate flooring is tough enough for use in the home and in commercial areas. It is ideal for use in high-traffic areas because the synthetic surface is highly scratch-resistant. Laminates do not expand and contract with temperature changes like hardwoods, so there is less likelihood of bubbling or gaps. Plus, many laminates feature interlocking edges that click into place without glue or nails for fast and easy installation. All this at a far lower cost than natural wood? That’s tough to beat.

If you have a chance, stop by a local retailer to see a few laminate flooring samples first hand. Then, give us a call at 866-705-1340 to discuss laminate options for your particular project. We’d love to help you save. Thanks for reading!

Flooring fans banded together, took to the streets, demanded action – and Mannington listened. The Revolution is in full swing and the Restoration is underway. We’re not talking regime change. We’re talking luxurious laminate flooring. Mannington’s newest laminate collections are generating a real fervor among designers and homeowners across the nation. The new Mannington Laminate collections Revolutions and Restoration Collections offer even more proof of Mannington’s effective leadership throughout the modern flooring crisis.

Any time new ideas are introduced, there’s always the risk of a Revolution. This time, Mannington’s Revolution comes in two forms. First, the Mannington Revolutions Plankcollection captures hardwood elegance at its finest. This premiere

Mannington Laminate Revolution Plank

laminate line celebrates the beauty of hickory, cherry, spalted maple and oak. Deep rustic stains like Butterscotch and Dried Tobacco infuse a lively sense of warmth and character into each and every plank. The dramatic grain patterns are vibrant and mysterious, plus, over two dozen species/shade variations so designers will have no trouble finding the perfect natural wood tone. Since the Revolution plank collection is a durable synthetic laminate, it is far more resistant to liquid damage and abrasion that natural hardwood. This makes Revolution Planks ideal or use in high-traffic areas in the home or in commercial spaces.

On the other hand, Revolutions Tile offers all of the beauty and drama of natural quarried stone. This lush laminate looks stunning in kitchens, baths, dining areas and family rooms. From the deep hues and bold blends of Firestone to the subtle beige variations of Sandstone, the Revolutions Tile line offers a stark stone shade to match any application. Adirondack Valley Green is one of the most popular colors in the collection with its rich blend of dark browns, tans and beiges. The natural stone look is further enhanced by the surface textures which correspond to the variations in color. Plus, the tiles are cut into square shapes, much like the natural stone they so accurately resemble.

Mannington Laminate Restoration Collection

The Mannington Restoration collection is unlike anything else in Mannington’s laminate lineup. This lavish laminate offers the look of reclaimed wood, as if the planks have been salvaged after years of use. The faded, weather worn look of Restoration planks creates a wonderful sense of warmth and character. Restoration laminates accurately reproduce the distinctive grain patterns and knotting of natural oak. Seven unique finishes offer options from the light Antiqued to the dark brown Timber. The Charcoal and Ash finishes offer a smoky and almost charred look, as if the planks had been salvaged from a fire-swept mansion. Overall, the Restoration line looks like it really has a story to tell. Both classic country homes and contemporary condos will definitely benefit from a Restoration overhaul.

If the world is changing everywhere, maybe your floor should too. Mannington’s new Revolutions and Restoration collections are truly stunning examples of the beauty and functionality that a modern laminate floor can offer.

Grab your axe and crank the amp to 11 because Laminate Flooring is ready to rock! Of course, by “rock” we mean “offer the look of natural stone.” You see, for decades laminate floors were designed to resemble only natural hardwoods. While it’s true that there are a lot of great hardwood-look laminates, the wood look doesn’t leave a lot of options for designers who’re jonesing for stone. Many homeowners and builders have sought out stone style in traditional materials, but the high cost and difficult installation has stopped them in their tracks. Luckily, manufacturers such as Shaw, Quick Step and Mowhawk now offer awesome laminate options in a variety of sleek stone styles. Let’s take a quick look at a few of these hard rocking laminate lines.

Shaw Majestic Vision Laminate

Shaw Majestic Vision makes a bold entrance onto the stone-look laminate stage. This luxury laminate draws its inspiration from quarried slate, and is designed to offer an eclectic irregular look with tiles of varying sizes forming a concise geometric pattern. Six distinct color shades travel the spectrum from pale and pearly to rich deep brown. Shaw uses the latest advancements in printing technology to accurately capture the subtle variations in color and texture that make natural stone so dramatic.

Another popular stone-look laminate is Quick Step Quadra. This stunning collection includes fourteen different stone shades from the dark and uniform look of Shale Barista Brown to the gossamer glow of light Luna. The Quadra collection is unique because of its highly detailed reproductions of the marbled look of quarried granite. The Indian Autumn shade is a particularly striking take on this naturally marbled look.

Quick Step Quadra Laminate

Mowhawk Grenada is an excellent choice for designers in search of a sleek, modern look. The earthy hues and minimal variation create a very contemporary vibe, almost industrial chic. With four simple and sophisticated shades, the Grenada collection is excels in either the home or the office. It’s durable enough for commercial use, but stylish enough for use in the living area or kitchen at home.

In general, laminate flooring is highly resistant to furniture indentations, scuff-marks and liquid damage. In this sense, it’s a durable alternative to natural stone. Most laminates feature interlocking tongue and groove systems which improve stability and make installation relatively simple. In most instances, laminate flooring can “float” on top of an existing floor without being permanently attached. But if a more permanent installation is desired, special water-resistant glue can be applied between each tongue and groove to hold the planks together and keep moisture out. This easy installation and improved durability makes laminates a natural choice for do-it-yourselfers. Plus, the economical price points increase the appeal. And now that all the benefits are available in a wide variety of natural stone looks, there are even more reasons to love laminates.

Mohawk Grenada Laminate

Sleek stone style steps on the stage in a rocking new way with these cool new laminate flooring collections. If you get a chance, stop by a local flooring retailer and take a look at the natural stone styles available. Then, if you have any questions, feel free to call a flooring expert at (866) 705-1340, to get answers fast. Thanks for reading, and rock on flooring fans!

Gorgeous and functional, Decorwood is a direct pressure laminate and one of the newest innovations by Quick-Step. A flawless design, Decorwood offers an exotic hardwood appearance that was created using high definition technology and boasts a 6 inch plank that stretches a length of 80 inches. Moreover, having been paired with Uniclic technology, Decorwood is a snap to install, further adding to its curb appeal. Undoubtedly, Decorwood is a perfect addition to any and every space.

Because Decorwood is made with HD Color Fusion Technology, it has a high shade variation which means less pattern repeats and a more realistic hardwood look for your space. Additionally, while hardwood has a tendency to fade when it installed in sunny areas, the HD technology offered by Quick-Step actually protects Decorwood from any fading that might otherwise occur.

Moving on, Decorwood has been manufactured with Uniclic, a technology used by Quick-Step for a wide range of their products. With Uniclic, planks of laminate are manufactured with tongues and grooves that run along either side. In turn, installation with Uniclic is extremely user friendly. That being said, if DIY is your style, Decorwood is a perfect choice for you.

Both traditional and trendy, Decorwood is available in five exotic wood styles which are Claret Cherry, Golden Eucalyptus, Garnet Tupelo, Brazilian Walnut, and Crimson Jarrah, and all planks measure 6 1/8 inches by 6-3/4 feet long. Typically, exotic style planks of this size come with a price tag that is much too steep for most consumers. However, because Decorwood is a direct pressure laminate, end-users that might not have otherwise been able to afford a long-plank with an exotic look can now look to Decorwood for a believable exotic hardwood look at an unbelievable price.

To find this amazing product, consumers are urged to visit their local Quick-Step retailer. Since Quickstep Decorwood is so new to the laminate flooring market, consumers are urged to call us at (866) 705-1340, from there one of our Quickstep Laminate flooring specialists can answer any questions you may have.

Laminate flooring is often relegated to the side during the search for the perfect flooring. But when consumers immediately set aside laminate it’s because they really aren’t aware of the many options available with today’s most recent printing and manufacturing technologies. Today’s advanced techniques have allowed laminate manufacturers to authentically replicate the look of hardwood more efficiently than ever before.

This offers a unique opportunity. You are able to access the look of hardwood with a drastic decrease in the amount of care and maintenance necessary for general upkeep. For instance, the Mannington Restoration Collection offers 7 color choices: Antiqued, Stained, Weathered, Ash, Fumed, Charcoal and Timber. Depending upon the color choice, users can install Mannington Restoration Collection products can be a fantastic foundation for many interior design schemes.

Are you looking for gorgeous hardwood, but trying to avoid the maintenance of hardwood floors? Are you looking for a lower price? Are you trying to install the hardwood look in areas that may be high risks for moisture like the kitchen or bathroom? If you answered yes to any of these questions you are a terrific candidate for laminate flooring.

Laminate flooring is also prized because of its ability to result in an easy installation. Laminate flooring can actually be installed over an existing floor. Because of this, ease of installation is one of the main benefits that draw consumers to laminate over hardwood.

But that’s not the only thing that sets laminate apart. Laminate is also scratch resistant and easy to care for. Hardwood floors often become damaged as soon as they are installed because of the delicate nature of the wood. Even the hardest woods can be quickly pockmarked with dents, gouges, scratches and more. And there’s nothing more problematic than hardwood in a moisture rich area like the kitchen, bathroom or laundry room.

Consider all the options. Then remember to consider the advantages of laminate before you set it aside because it “isn’t real.” It is real. It’s a very real option for practical and beautiful flooring. It’s just not “real” hardwood. To view the Mannington Laminate Restoration Collection visit one of your local Mannington Flooring retailers or call (866) 705-1340 and one of our flooring specialists will be more than happy to assist you with any questions you may have about the Mannington Laminate Restoration Collection.

Because of the great ease of installation that laminate flooring provides to end users, laminate flooring has gained much popularity over the last several years, especially among the DIY-ing community. In the paragraphs to follow, we are going to take you step-by-step through the process of how to install your very own laminate flooring.

Step One: Acclimatizing the Flooring

Because laminate flooring consists of actual wood parts, it is vital that the planks be afforded a proper amount of time to adapt to the temperature and humidity of the environment in which they are being installed. That being said, the method to this madness involves removing all plastic wrap and stacking the laminate in a manner that allows for air to circulate around it. Additionally, preferred amounts of time to let any type of wood floor acclimatize ranges between 48 and 72 hours. While this may seem like a long time to wait, bear in mind that this time can be spent preparing the sub-floor, which brings us to step two.

Step Two: Preparing the Sub-Floor

Laminate Flooring is a perfect building and remodeling material because it can be installed over virtually any type of sub-floor. That said, the key ingredient to preparing a sub-floor is to make sure that it is completely free of debris. To accomplish this, after all moldings have been removed, simply give the floor a thorough sweeping and mopping. Also, having a level area to work with is imperative and if the sub-floor needs to be leveled out, now would be the appropriate time to do so.

Step 3: Putting Down the Vapor Barrier

Vapor barriers are important because they keep any potential moisture from reaching the laminate floor from underneath. To lay it down properly, roll the vapor barrier out one row at a time starting with the longest wall of the room. For the rows that follow, because vapor barriers vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, make sure to follow the accompanying instructions on how to lay two vapor barrier sheets next to each other. Most manufacturers will either instruct that the barriers be overlapped or butted up against each other. Whichever way they direct, be sure to use a moisture resistant tape to connect the sheets to each other.

Step 5: Installing the Flooring

Before laying down any laminate flooring, spacers will need to be placed about 12 inches apart against each wall. These spacers should measure about ½”, which is a perfect amount of space to allow the flooring to “breathe” once it has been fully installed. Then, when laying any type of plank-style flooring, the most common rule of thumb is to start by arranging planks against the longest wall in parallel fashion. Also, because most laminate floors are made with tongues and grooves that “lock” together, make sure to install these first planks with their grooves facing towards the wall. Once the first row is installed, take care to match each tongue to a groove and then tap it gently into place. Last, but certainly not least, in order to create a floor that does not look calculated, make sure to stagger each row as the installation progresses.

Step 7: Installing Base Moldings and Thresholds

Once the entire sub-floor has been covered, the next step is to remove all spacers and install the base moldings around the perimeter of the floor. When installing the base molding, it is recommended that they be nailed to the wall rather than to the floor itself. Note that as soon as the base moldings are in place, the “expansion gap” made by the spacers will be out of view. From here, be sure to then install any applicable thresholds, which act as a mini partition between differing floors and rooms. Also, once everything is in place, it is recommended to let the newly installed floor sit for a day or two without walking on it in order to give it an opportunity to expand and contract properly.

Step 8: Enjoy Your New Floor

Because dust and dirt particles have great potential to compromise a laminate finish, ensuring a long life for your newly installed laminate floor is as simple as sweeping on a regular basis. Moreover, if ever a mop is in order, the only requirement is a slightly dampened mop and a small amount of warm water. As an important note, never drench a laminate floor or let water pool for too long. In fact, if spills are cleaned immediately, a laminate floor can be enjoyed for many years.

When you are ultimately ready to purchase your Laminate Flooring be sure to call us at (866) 705-1340 and talk to a laminate flooring specialist today!

After all, who wouldn’t want a floor that not only looks great, but adds character and style to a home as well? The only downside to traditional exotic hardwood flooring is that it can be expensive, creating a sense of paranoia when it is installed, as any damage, mark, or scuff can cost quite the pretty penny to repair. This makes the dream of capturing the look of an exotic hardwood floor farfetched for anyone with children, rambunctious pets, or high traffic areas as the flooring may become significantly worn or damaged. For this situation, Mannington, a pioneer of the laminate flooring industry has designed the Diamond Bay collection; laminate flooring that is designed to reproduce the appearance of an authentic hardwood floor, inspired by exotic woods such as Brazilian Cherry, Hawaiian Koa, and Moroccan Plum.

Now, one may wonder what a laminate floor from the Mannington Diamond Bay collection offers that is any different than an authentic exotic hardwood. The answer is simple, a lower price point, increased durability and damage resistance, and a surface that makes laminate flooring one of the easiest to clean floor options available on the market today. Now homes where accidents may occur frequently, such as those with high traffic, kids, or pets can feature the look of an exotic hardwood floor, without the worry of it incurring damage. Furthermore, the Diamond Bay series of Mannington laminate flooring is absolutely beautiful, featuring a high gloss finish that creates a sense of elegance and sophistication, as well as gorgeous color options such as Rio Red, an attractive medium brown with a red undertone, Jamaican Brown, a vibrant dark chocolate brown, Aloha Gold, a light tan color with a stunning golden hue, and many more. The Diamond Bay series of Mannington wood look laminate floors are a great addition to any home, making the dream of having an exotic hardwood floor that will stand up to the strain of modern living possible, as well as enhancing the beauty of any space.
